Electrician – Short-Term Contract (6 Months)
Potential to Become Permanent
We are seeking an experienced Electrician to join our team on a 6-month fixed-term contract, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position for the right candidate.
This role involves carrying out electrical maintenance, fault finding, inspection, testing, and installation work across our site. You will ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard within a COMAH-regulated industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical, control, and instrumentation maintenance and installation activities in line with company procedures and safe systems of work.
- Diagnose and repair faults on electrical systems, including 415v 3-phase systems, DCS/PLC control systems, and digital/analogue instrumentation.
- Complete inspection routines, alarm testing, and trip testing in line with the site COMAH safety management system.
- Work under Permit to Work (PTW) systems and complete Risk Assessments / Non-Routine Job Assessments (NRJ).
- Perform safe isolation of electrical systems and components.
- Support preventative maintenance programmes and breakdown response activities.
- Assist with installation of new plant and modifications to existing equipment under the Management of Change process.
- Work collaboratively with other trades as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
- Provide engineering support to maintain plant integrity and reduce the risk of major incidents.

Requirements
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance and fault finding within an industrial, manufacturing, or process environment.
- Strong knowledge of 3-phase systems, controls, instrumentation, and safe isolation procedures.
- Experience working under Permit to Work systems and carrying out risk assessments.
- Ability to read and interpret procedures, drawings, and technical sketches.
- Experience within COMAH or other high-hazard environments is advantageous.
Essential Qualifications
Applicants should hold a recognised Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification, such as:
- City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation
- EAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems
Also desirable:
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
- AM2 Assessment (Achievement Measurement 2)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
- ECS Gold Card
