Responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the campus electrical and lighting systems.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
Repairs pole lights from ladder or lift.
Runs conduit and pull wire for new lighting or power.
Troubleshoots complex problems ranging from motor controls to lighting problems.
Retrofits lighting to more efficient types.
Repairs lighting fixtures.
Assists in troubleshooting/switching primary distribution system.
Locates underground utilities as required.
Works after hours athletic and special events.
Responds to afterhours emergencies as required.
Responds to all elevator problems, call contractor if necessary.
Cleans electrical spaces throughout buildings.
Performs Preventive Maintenance (PM) on various equipments.
Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
Equivalent Education/Experience
Basic mathematics skills including adding, subtracting, dividing and multiplying.
Proficiency with smart devices such as cell phones and tablets, including the ability to respond to messages and emails and to use apps such as a work order system.
Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment, complete projects by deadlines, and act with a sense of urgency.
Ability to communicate in order to give and receive information.
A collaborative team player, who can coordinate work effectively with employees, team members, and outside vendors.
Strong customer service with a can-do attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
Valid driver’s license required.
Electrical journey’s license required.
Previous work in a multi-campus environment preferred.
Special Job Dimensions:
Work requires ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as exposure to disagreeable odors and environmental conditions; lifting (up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally); frequent bending, pushing and pulling; occasional stooping; frequent carrying up to 50 pounds; and occasional lifting overhead up to 50 pounds. Work also requires the ability to see/read and distinguish colors and to hear and speak in order to receive and convey instructions. This position may be required to work overtime, nights, weekends or holidays in order to fulfill essential service requirements such as during inclement weather or other events.
