Russell Sage College is a dynamic, comprehensive college which serves traditional students and working professionals who pursue bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees on campuses in Troy and Albany, NY. Many online programs are also offered.
Creating one of the region's largest private higher education institutions with the broadest catalog of programs in the health professions and strong programs in education, business, criminal justice, the sciences, pre-med, pre-health, and arts and humanities, Russell Sage College and Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) plan to merge. Russell Sage and ACPHS will collaborate over the next several years to create a plan to merge their academic portfolios and develop a facilities and people strategy, addressing workforce needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installs, maintains and repairs electrical wiring, conduit, equipment and devices, including complex instrumentation and campus wide DDC control systems

Installs, tests, maintains and troubleshoots telecommunications equipment and wiring
-
Responsible for adding, moving and changing of telephone lines, data lines, and equipment
-
Responsible for testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting cable TV up to the service
-
Responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance on all HVAC equipment and exhaust fans
-
Responsible for periodic testing, maintenance, reporting, and repair of all fire alarm systems and associated peripherals
-
Reads, interprets, and follows architectural drawings, schematics/blueprints, sketches, and specifications
-
Responsible to follow all standards and prescribed electrical code and other safety regulations such as Lockout/Tagout
-
Performs electrical maintenance in accordance with manufacturers installation and maintenance documentation and/or verbal instructions
-
Completes special projects as assigned

Other responsibilities as assigned by the Crew Coordinator, Assistant Directors, or Senior Director
DUTIES:
- Repairs, installs, replaces and maintains electrical circuits, equipment and appliances, including high voltage and DC circuits
-
Inspects, tests and performs preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical equipment, lighting, signal, HVAC, communications and power circuits
-
Troubleshoots and isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, lighting, DDC controls, and other electrical equipment using appropriate test instruments such as an ammeter, ohm meter, volt meter, test lamp, megger, prowler, or signal generator

Performs periodic testing, maintenance, reporting, and repair of all fire alarm systems and associated peripherals

Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains emergency lighting/exit sign circuits campus wide, including backup battery maintenance
-
Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains access control, door alarms, handi-cap openers, and security camera circuits campus wide
-
Inspects completed work to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, local and NYS codes, and verifies system is realigned for operational readiness

Maintains an adequate inventory of parts required for timely repairs
-
Stores and utilizes chemicals and equipment in a safe/compliant manner, including maintaining MSDS sheets
-
Plans scheduled maintenance, creates materials lists, and requisitions materials and equipment
-
Maintains all aspects of electrical/electronic systems at the facilities to comply with NYS Building and Fire Codes
-
Maintains a proper inventory of electrical tools and equipment associated with the trade in a good and safe working order per manufacturers recommendations
-
Performs all electrical work assigned in accordance with applicable safety precautions/procedures
-
Communicate with Public Safety and Staff via 2-way radio communication
-
Receive, complete, and submit all work order processing documentation accurately and on time
-
Snow removal using shovels and/or equipment as assigned: May include off hours scheduling in accordance with BSEIU Local 51 Contract

All other general maintenance duties as assigned
The estimated wage is $25.39 per hour for 40 hours per week for 52 weeks.
- A trade school or vocational high school diploma is required or experience through a recognized apprenticeship program or a combination of both

Five years experience as an electrician
-
Must be familiar with various electrical and mechanical systems, including heating and ventilation systems, air conditioning systems, lighting systems, DDC Control systems, fire alarm/sprinkler systems, and telecommunication systems

Must have knowledge of communications wiring, equipment and technology. Experience with Lucent Technologies equipment is preferred
-
Must be able to cut, bend, thread and fit conduit
-
Must have highly developed electrical ability/aptitude and be familiar with terminology of the trade
-
Must have complete knowledge of materials related to electrical systems
-
Must be able to interpret and follow architectural and general engineering drawings, schematics and specifications as well as manufacturers installation and maintenance documentation
-
Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions
-
Must have a basic knowledge of local and NYS Electrical, Building, and Fire Codes
-
Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 51 lbs without assistance
-
Must be able to work from heights, including mechanical lifting devices
-
Must be able to read instructions and safety rules, write sentences, communicate verbally and follow instructions

Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide
-
Must be able to walk, stoop, bend, crouch, sit, kneel, climb and crawl

Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
-
Must be available for emergency call-ins

Valid NYS driver's license is required
