Electrician II

Summary:

Operates the fire alarm system and the electrical distribution system. Operates portable test equipment, the operation the emergency power system including generator operation, transfer switch functions, and distribution of components and the nurse call system. Performs all electrical installations and repairs in compliance with the requirements identified in the National Electric Code. Operates the overhead paging system. Operates the pneumatic tube system, components of mechanical systems/equipment (ie, motor troubleshooting, starters, fuses, variable speed drives, etc. Properly performs repairs as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Formal Education Required:
a. High school graduate and completion of an electrician apprenticeship program.

2. Experience and Training Required:
a. Three (3) to five (5) years’ commercial or residential electrical experience.
b. Understands distribution drawings, proper preventive troubleshooting skills.

3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.

4. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
b. Must work in a variety of adverse working conditions.
c. Some work must be one in a small, tight crawl space. Other assignments require working around high voltages (up to 480 volts). Other environments include high temperature areas, high working platforms, noisy areas, etc.
d. This position must use tools that could impose serious injury if used improperly.
e. During emergency response situations (major power outage, alarm system failure) this position is exposed to high levels of stress, long working hours, and difficult time constraints.
f. Requires a high degree of manual dexterity.
