Job Description – Electrical Technician
To perform installation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment and systems to ensure continuous, safe, and reliable operation of the plant.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on motors, panels, MCCs, VFDs, compressors, lighting systems, and production machinery.
- Inspect electrical systems, wiring, and components for faults and safety issues.
- Replace faulty components such as breakers, contactors, relays, switches, and cables.
- Diagnose electrical breakdowns and restore equipment with minimum downtime.
- Identify root causes and propose corrective actions.
- Use electrical testing tools (multimeter, megger, clamp meter).
- Install new electrical equipment, panels, conduits, and cabling.
- Assist engineers in commissioning new machines and upgrades.
- Ensure proper grounding and protection systems are in place.
- Follow electrical safety standards and company procedures.
- Apply LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) before working on live circuits.
- Maintain safe housekeeping in electrical rooms and workshop.
- Complete maintenance job cards and daily reports.
- Update PM checklist records.
- Report abnormalities and recommend improvements.
- Ability to work at heights and confined spaces when needed.
- Capable of lifting tools and handling cables.
- Ability to work in hot industrial environments during summer.
