Key responsibilities
- Installation: Install electrical systems, wiring, lighting, control systems, and other electrical equipment according to plans and schematics.
- Maintenance and Repair: Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and safely. This includes tasks like replacing parts, fixing circuits, and servicing equipment.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve electrical problems using various tools like voltmeters, ammeters, and other testing equipment.
- Planning and Design: Read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams to plan electrical layouts and pathways.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to local and national electrical codes and safety regulations. Mitigate any identified safety hazards.
- Documentation: Complete work orders, document the work performed, and track materials used.
- Collaboration: Work with other electricians, contractors, and team members on various projects.
Essential skills and qualifications
- Strong practical skills with a variety of hand and power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and blueprints.
