lectro-Mechanical Design Engineer – Product Development
Bethlehem, PA | $90,000–$110,000
Join a growing engineering team focused on scaling an expanding product line and supporting next-generation product development. In this role, you will design and develop electro-mechanical systems that integrate mechanical design, electrical components, and power-electronics interfaces. You’ll work hands-on with manufacturing, testing, and shop personnel to optimize performance, improve manufacturability, and support continuous product innovation.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who wants to see their designs move rapidly from concept to production, influence the direction of a product line, and be part of a highly collaborative team.
Design and develop electro-mechanical components and assemblies, balancing mechanical performance with electrical/power-electronic requirements.
Create custom parts and product configurations based on customer specifications; collaborate directly with shop and manufacturing teams to validate feasibility and communicate design intent.
Own product documentation, including BOMs, engineering change notes, interface drawings, and production-ready release packages.
Support New Product Development (NPD) from concept through prototype build, testing, design refinement, and release to production.
Partner with the Test Department to troubleshoot issues discovered during testing and incorporate corrective design changes.
Drive continuous improvement of design standards, modeling practices, workflows, and engineering tools.
Collaborate cross-functionally with order entry, operations, and production teams to ensure accurate custom drawing packages and on-time delivery.
Improve manufacturability (DFM) through better documentation, design simplification, and close coordination with fabrication and machine shop teams.
BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
5+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, or electro-mechanical product design (NPI or continuous improvement).
Solid understanding of electrical/electronic systems, wiring, and schematic interpretation.
Experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally with exposure to assembly, testing, machining, or fabrication.
Strong knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication principles.
Proficiency with SolidWorks, including multi-part and large assemblies.
Skilled in AutoCAD, DraftSight, or similar 2D drafting tools.
Experience supporting new product introduction, prototype builds, test evaluation, and transition to production.
Ability to communicate effectively with shop personnel, engineering peers, and cross-functional teams.
