TITLE: ELEMENTARY HOMEROOM TEACHER

REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL


Primary Functions
:

The Elementary Homeroom Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and fostering the academic, social, and emotional development of elementary students. The teacher creates a supportive, engaging learning environment that promotes critical thinking, collaboration, and student achievement.


Key Responsibilities include:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering well-structured lessons aligned with Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics, and relevant standards in Science and Social Studies.
  • Assessing students’ academic levels using formative and summative assessments aligned with CCSS learning objectives.
  • Implementing instructional strategies that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, reading comprehension, writing proficiency, and mathematical reasoning.
  • Differentiating instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including those requiring intervention or enrichment.
  • Using data from assessments to inform instruction and monitor student progress toward mastery of standards.
  • Creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports active learning and student engagement.
  • Integrating educational technology and a variety of instructional resources to support Common Core-aligned instruction.
  • Providing timely, meaningful feedback to students to support growth and achievement.
  • Setting homework that reinforces Common Core skills and is appropriate to students’ abilities and workload, in accordance with school policy.
  • Supporting students’ social and emotional development and promoting positive behavior and classroom routines.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, assessments, and attendance.
  • Communicating effectively with parents regarding student progress, learning goals, and classroom expectations.
  • Participating in collaborative planning, professional development, and school-wide initiatives related to curriculum and instruction.
  • Carrying out homeroom duties and additional responsibilities as assigned by the administration.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field.
  • Degree in education or a teaching certificate may be required.
  • Experience teaching elementary grades is preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to student-centered learning.
  • Strong collaboration and professional ethics.
