Job Description – Primary School Principal (Female)

Position: Principal – Primary Section (Grade 1 to 5)

Reporting To: Director-Principal

Role Summary

The Primary School Principal will lead the academic, administrative, and operational functions of the Primary Section. She will ensure strong foundational learning, child-centric pedagogy, and compliance with CBSE/NEP guidelines while creating a nurturing environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Leadership

• Implement curriculum aligned with CBSE norms, NEP 2020, and NCF 2021.
• Ensure strong focus on foundational literacy and numeracy.
• Conduct classroom observations, notebook audits, and lesson plan reviews.
• Guide teachers in adopting innovative and activity-based learning methods.

Student Development & Well-being

• Oversee holistic development of children through academics, values, and co-curriculars.
• Ensure inclusive practices for diverse learners.
• Maintain discipline and student safety.

Teacher Supervision & Development

• Supervise and mentor teachers, HMs, and coordinators of the primary wing.
• Conduct teacher training and professional development programs.
• Organize appraisals and provide feedback for growth.

Administration & Compliance

• Manage daily operations, timetables, and academic calendars.
• Ensure compliance with CBSE standards and school policies.
• Prepare and submit reports to the Director-Principal.

Parent & Community Engagement

• Maintain transparent communication with parents.
• Conduct PTMs, orientations, and parent workshops.
• Address concerns promptly and effectively.

Leadership & Culture

• Promote school ethos, values, and discipline.
• Build team spirit and resolve interpersonal issues among staff.
• Encourage innovation, excellence, and accountability.

Qualifications & Skills

• Master’s Degree with B.Ed. (mandatory).
• Minimum 10 years of teaching experience, with 3–5 years in a leadership role (preferably CBSE).
• Strong knowledge of early childhood and primary education.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
