Job description

Switzer Learning Center is seeking a Elementary School Special Education Teachers (with mild/moderate or moderate/severe credentials) for our Nonpublic School the Diploma Track Program. Our Diploma Track Program consists of a 6-8 Middle School, four 9-12 High School classrooms, and coming soon, a K-5 Elementary School.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

  • The Diploma Track program is part of the Nonpublic School Program that serves students from K-5, 6-8 and 9-12 grades with social, emotional and behavioral challenges.

POSITION DETAILS:

  • This position is Monday through Friday
  • School hours: 8:00AM - 3:45PM daily

QUALIFIED APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mild to Moderate or Moderate to Severe Education Specialist Instruction Credentials.
  • Must have minimum 2 years of experience working with children with special needs.
  • Flexibility and creativity in designing individualized education plans (IEP's).
  • Ability to implement academic/behavioral plans for each student.
  • Ability to present subject matter to students, utilizing a variety of methods and techniques (lecture, discussion, modeling, etc.)
  • Experience working with adolescent students with social, emotional and behavioral challenges.

COMPENSATION:

  • $64,680- $74,480 annually (depending on experience and credential).
  • Sick Pay- 10 days of paid sick leave accrued annually.
  • Recess Vacation & Holiday Pay- 30 days of paid holidays and recess vacation annually (including 12 paid holidays, winter recess break, spring recess break, and summer recess interim break).

ABOUT US:

Switzer Center is a nonprofit, nonpublic, special education school serving 3rd-12th grade students with social, emotional and behavioral challenges. Each student works with a highly trained team of credentialed special education teachers, licensed psychologists, licensed speech and language pathologists, certified Crisis Prevention Intervention behavior specialists and other related service providers who are dedicated to help students achieve academic, vocational and personal goals unobtainable in conventional educational settings. In a supportive and therapeutic environment, students with an IEP eligibility of ED, SLD, SLI, AUT, and OHI receive special education instruction, counseling, language & speech, structured reading and math intervention classes, behavioral analysis/interventions and psychological /educational assessments.

OUR HISTORY:

Our successful special education program incorporates the innovative work of our founder, Dr. Janet Switzer, who was a pioneer in the field of educational therapy. Since 1966 Switzer Learning Center has been operating an outpatient diagnostic and treatment clinic, a K-12 nonpublic school and a nonpublic agency serving children with mild to severe learning, emotional and behavioral challenges and their families. We now have more than 5,000 successful alumni.

NOTE:

Finalists must submit fingerprints for Department of Justice clearance, and provide TB clearance results that have been done within last 60 days.
