Elementary Special Education Teacher

Qualifications:

• Minimum requirement of Bachelor degree in education
• Possess or be eligible for a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate special education endorsements
• Meet Highly Qualified requirements
• CPI Training Preferred

Duties:

• Responsible for planning instruction and/or adaption of the education program to enable students to benefit from educational experiences.
• Instruct individuals and groups in special education skill areas.
• Plan curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods.
• Evaluate student progress based on papers submitted, test scores and observation.
• Monitor student progress in and outside the special education room.
• Maintain the physical environment of the classroom.
• Maintain contact with parents of students.
• Evaluate student progress based on work output and observation, determine goals, objectives and directions.
• Prepare report cards, educational records, IEP forms, classroom observation records, and other forms.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Work with IEP team to develop student behavior plan.
