An ELV (Extra Low Voltage) Multi Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of ELV systems in commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. Their duties typically cover systems such as CCTV, access control, fire alarms, PA systems, structured cabling, and more.
Key Responsibilities of an ELV Multi Technician1. Installation & Configuration
- Install and configure ELV systems such as CCTV, fire alarm, access control, intercom, PA systems, and BMS.
- Perform cable pulling, termination, and dressing for structured cabling systems.
- Mount, align, and adjust cameras, sensors, and related ELV devices.
2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance on ELV systems.
- Diagnose and repair faults in wiring, control panels, and network equipment.
- Perform system upgrades, firmware updates, and configuration changes.
3. Testing & Commissioning
- Conduct system testing to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
- Verify system functionality and resolve any defects before handover.
- Collaborate with engineers and project teams for commissioning activities.
4. Compliance & Safety
- Follow industry standards, manufacturer guidelines, and company policies during installation and repairs.
- Ensure all ELV systems comply with local electrical and safety regulations.
- Maintain a safe work environment by using appropriate PPE and safety protocols.
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain records of maintenance schedules, system configurations, and troubleshooting reports.
- Prepare documentation for system handovers, including test results and as-built drawings.
- Report any system failures, required spare parts, or project progress to supervisors.
6. Client Support & Coordination
- Provide technical support and training to clients or end-users when required.
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and IT teams for seamless system integration.
- Respond to service calls promptly and efficiently resolve client issues.
