Location: Hickory, NC. APPs are able to see all patients and work to the top of their license. High functioning hospital and cohesive team with low turnover. ~258 bed hospital. No TC designation but have Interventional Cardiology and lots of specialty support. Chest Pain and Stroke Center designation. No separate fast track.
Staff: 5 physicians, 5-6 APPs scheduled daily. “APPs see 1.4 – 2.0 patients per hour.”
Role: Opportunities to see high acuity patients if desired but not required. Provider in Triage (PIT) shifts available during peak times are available and incentivized ($5 p/h). Able to consider NPs with Emergency experience. It is a higher acuity practice than some of our others. No new grads right now.
Training: depends on experience level.
Licensure: Must have NC PA/NP license (NPs must be ENP boarded or eligible), BLS, ACLS before starting. Must obtain ATLS after starting eventually.
Schedule: 4:30am-2:30pm, 8:00-6:00pm, 10:00-8:00pm, 12:00pm-10:00pm, 2:30pm-12:30am, 7:00pm-4:00am. Hours after midnight are incentivized ($25 p/h). Core group of folks pickup the early AM shifts. Must be flexible to rotate through all shifts. Someone who wants all evenings would be great. Would prefer the 151.67 hour per month model.
Quarterly Incentive Bonuses: Eligible after 1 year of employment. $10,000-$16,000

Augments a physician's ability to provide patient care services by independently and interdependently scheduling, supervising, and/or conducting complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and/or surgeries in the Emergency Medicine setting.
