Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Emergency Coordinator to lead and coordinate emergency preparedness and response operations. The Emergency Coordinator will be responsible for planning, coordinating rapid response interventions, leading emergency assessments, managing emergency teams, and ensuring effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality humanitarian assistance.
This position requires strong leadership, excellent coordination skills, and the ability to work in complex and rapidly changing emergency environments.
Key ResponsibilitiesEmergency Preparedness & Response
- Lead the planning and implementation of emergency response activities in line with organizational strategies and humanitarian standards.
- Develop and update contingency plans, preparedness tools, and emergency response frameworks.
- Coordinate rapid needs assessments and ensure timely analysis and reporting.
- Ensure emergency response activities are delivered effectively, on time, and within budget.
Coordination & Representation
- Represent the organization in emergency coordination forums, clusters, and meetings with government authorities, UN agencies, and partners.
- Maintain strong relationships with humanitarian stakeholders and ensure effective collaboration and coordination.
- Support advocacy initiatives and contribute to emergency response strategy development.
Program Management & Quality Assurance
- Ensure programs meet donor requirements, organizational policies, and international humanitarian standards.
- Monitor response implementation and ensure accountability to affected populations.
- Support proposal development, budgeting, reporting, and donor communication related to emergency programming.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting of emergency response interventions.
Team Leadership & Capacity Building
- Provide leadership and technical guidance to emergency response teams.
- Support staff performance management, mentoring, and training to strengthen emergency response capacity.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and high-performing team environment.
Monitoring, Reporting & Learning
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of emergency activities, achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Track emergency indicators and support monitoring and evaluation processes.
- Contribute to organizational learning and continuous improvement of emergency preparedness and response.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Disaster Management, Humanitarian Studies, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum [Insert Years] years of experience in emergency response, humanitarian coordination, or disaster management.
- Proven experience working with NGOs/INGOs in humanitarian contexts.
- Strong knowledge of humanitarian principles, emergency response frameworks, and coordination mechanisms.

- Knowledge of Sphere Standards and other humanitarian quality frameworks.
- Fluency in English required; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
