About Nauru Medical Centre

Nauru Medical Centre (NMC) is the primary healthcare provider in the Republic of Nauru, delivering comprehensive medical services to the local community. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Emergency Room Head to lead our Emergency Department and ensure the highest standards of patient care, clinical governance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Emergency Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality emergency medical services.
• Supervise and support ER physicians, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.
• Develop, implement, and monitor clinical protocols, policies, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and patient safety requirements.
• Coordinate emergency response planning and disaster preparedness activities.
• Monitor departmental performance, staffing requirements, and resource utilization.
• Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to medical and nursing staff.
• Participate in the recruitment, orientation, and performance evaluation of ER personnel.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership and other departments to optimize patient flow and service delivery.
• Manage complex and critical emergency cases as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Medical Degree (MD, MBBS, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Board Certification or Specialist Qualification in Emergency Medicine.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-specialization experience in Emergency Medicine.
• Previous leadership or management experience in an Emergency Department is highly desirable.
• Current and unrestricted medical license.
• Strong clinical, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Experience working in multicultural healthcare environments is an advantage.
