Emergency Medicine Physician (MD/DO):Position Summary:
The Emergency Medicine Physician provides immediate evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients presenting with acute illness or injury in the emergency department. This role requires rapid clinical decision-making, management of high-acuity and undifferentiated patients, and coordination of care across multiple specialties to ensure timely, high-quality, patient-centered outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with a wide range of acute medical, surgical, and traumatic conditions
- Perform emergency medical procedures, including airway management, resuscitation, procedural sedation, wound management, and fracture stabilization, consistent with training and privileges
- Rapidly assess and prioritize patients based on acuity and clinical urgency
- Interpret diagnostic studies, including laboratory tests, imaging, and electrocardiograms
- Initiate stabilization, treatment, and disposition plans, including admission, transfer, or discharge
- Collaborate with consulting services, nursing staff, EMS, and ancillary teams
- Participate in trauma, stroke, STEMI, and sepsis response protocols, as applicable
- Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and departmental initiatives
- Supervise and educate residents, advanced practice providers, and learners, as applicable
- Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards
Qualifications:- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited emergency medicine residency program
- Board-eligible or board-certified in Emergency Medicine
- Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
- DEA registration or eligibility
- BLS, ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certification as required
