Provides primary veterinary care and case management within the UC Service. Provides leadership to the veterinary care team. Utilizes medical knowledge and expertise to provide onsite triage for ill or injured animals. Communicates and coordinates with clients and/or referring veterinarians to obtain relevant history, prior diagnostics, etc., in order to diagnose and treat patients. Helps clients assimilate information and make care decisions. Communicates and coordinates with other hospital services to facilitate timely efficient assessment, diagnostics, stabilization, treatment and/or transfer. Provides ongoing updates and initiates follow up calls to clients, veterinarians, and relevant parties. Practices and promotes prompt, positive, professional interpersonal relations and communications. Problem solves and provides consultation to students, staff, faculty, and community. Provides written feedback on student performance.
Develops knowledge and skills of DVM students, interns, residents, technicians and CE participants by providing clinical instruction in the principles and practice of veterinary triage skills and urgent care medicine. Presents staff training by illustrating new or reviewed specialty topics/techniques. Provides coaching and feedback.

Lead and support the veterinary care team , collaborating with clients, referring veterinarians, students, staff, and faculty; communicate clearly to facilitate informed care decisions and continuity of care.
Promote professional communication and education , delivering client updates and follow‑ups, consulting on clinical cases, problem‑solving collaboratively, and providing written feedback on student performance.
Deliver comprehensive veterinary care and case management , including onsite triage, diagnostics, treatment, and coordination with hospital services, clients, and referring veterinarians to ensure efficient, high‑quality patient care.
Provide clinical leadership and professional communication , supporting and consulting with students, staff, faculty, and the community; facilitating informed decision‑making; delivering follow‑up communication; and evaluating student performance.
Essential Services Designation: Required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety and welfare.
Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires)
Position will supervise the clinical service, consisting of residents, house
officers, and students.
DVM
Ability to obtain a Colorado Veterinary License
3 years’ experience as a DVM in small animal general or emergency practice
An Academic Veterinary License from CO DORA will be required to practice in this role.
Experience as a DVM in emergency practice
