Why does the job exist?
The ERB Investigator is responsible for designing and executing comprehensive investigation plans. This includes identifying subjects and witnesses, scheduling and conducting interviews, and gathering and documenting relevant evidence. The investigator determines the scope of necessary evidence and systematically collects, reviews, and analyzes all pertinent information to ensure investigations are thorough, objective, and impartial.
How does it get done?
Key duties include:
Reviewing applicable policies, procedures, state statutes, and NMAC regulations to identify potential violations.
Preparing detailed fact-finding reports that summarize investigative findings, including interview transcripts and supporting documentation.
Drafting disciplinary actions, internal complaint responses, and grievance replies in alignment with established protocols and deadlines.
The investigator also collaborates closely with management, supervisors, and the Office of General Counsel throughout the investigative and disciplinary process to ensure consistency and adherence to agency policies and applicable laws.
Minimum Qualification
Associate degree in Human Resources or Business Administration, Personnel Administration, HR Administration or Management, or Criminology and two (2) years of experience related to human resources operations, conducting investigations, documenting findings and disciplinary actions, collective bargaining, or problem resolution. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
