EMV Analyst

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage EMV Certification projects (including Level 3 certifications) end-to-end, covering planning, execution, defect resolution, client coordination, and successful certification closure.
  • Interpret and apply EMV card and terminal specifications, including EMVCo, ISO 8583 messaging, and scheme brand rules (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, etc.), ensuring compliant and accurate implementations.
  • Design, create, and execute test plans, test cases, and execution strategies for EMV-enabled devices such as POS, mPOS, ATM, mobile, and softPOS platforms.
  • Utilize EMV test tools (e.g., BTT, ICC simulators, UL tools, and scheme certification tools) to simulate card, terminal, and host behavior; analyze results and raise defects.
  • Collaborate with acquirers, processors, vendors, card networks, and internal engineering/certification teams for onboarding, audits, and certification activities.
  • Maintain certification documentation, including test evidence, waiver approvals, execution logs, and certification status reports.
  • Track timelines, risks, and dependencies, provide stakeholder updates, and escalate issues proactively.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to authorization, clearing & settlement, host/acquirer message flows, and device integrations to ensure smooth production go-live.
  • Provide training and technical support to partners and vendors on EMV certification processes and tools.
Required Skills
  • Strong hands-on experience in EMV Certification and Testing, particularly Level 3 (End-to-End) certifications.
  • In-depth knowledge of EMV specifications, EMVCo, ISO 8583, and payment transaction flows.
  • Experience working with card schemes such as Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, or UnionPay.
  • Proficiency with EMV test tools like BTT, ICC simulators, UL tools, and scheme-specific certification platforms.
  • Solid understanding of POS / mPOS / ATM / mobile payment device architectures.
  • Strong defect analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for client interaction, stakeholder management, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple certifications, priorities, and deadlines in parallel.
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Experience with contactless (NFC), mobile wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay), and tokenization.
  • Exposure to SoftPOS / Tap-to-Pay certifications.
  • Knowledge of PCI DSS, PCI PTS, or other payment security standards.
  • Prior experience working directly with acquirers, processors, or payment gateways.
  • Familiarity with certification portals (Visa VMP, Mastercard M-TIP, UL portals, etc.).
  • Experience in automation testing or scripting for payment testing environments.
Experience
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in payments testing, EMV certification, or card payments domain.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering EMV Level 3 certifications for payment devices or platforms.
  • Experience working in client-facing roles, coordinating with external stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Background in banking, fintech, payment processors, or acquirer environments preferred.
