Job Purpose

To provide high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic services in Endodontics in accordance with the latest clinical standards and evidence-based practices, ensuring safe and effective patient care while fully complying with patient safety, professional quality standards, and the requirements of CBAHI, Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, and the Ministry of Health.

Duties and Responsibilities

First: Clinical Responsibilities

• Diagnose diseases of the dental pulp and periapical tissues and develop appropriate treatment plans.
• Perform root canal treatments for simple and complex cases, including primary treatments and retreatments.
• Manage referred cases from general dentists and other dental specialties.
• Handle endodontic emergencies such as acute pain, infections, and abscesses.
• Utilize modern endodontic techniques and technologies (e.g., apex locators, rotary systems, and dental microscope when available).
• Assess and prepare patients before procedures and provide appropriate follow-up after treatment.
• Educate patients regarding treatment plans, alternatives, risks, and post-treatment instructions.
• Strictly adhere to infection control standards and instrument sterilization protocols.

Second: Quality and Documentation

• Accurately document all examinations, diagnoses, and procedures in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Comply with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) requirements to ensure accurate and complete medical records.
• Participate in quality, patient safety, and clinical case review meetings.
• Report any adverse events or treatment complications according to the approved reporting system.
• Contribute to achieving departmental and organizational quality and accreditation goals.

Third: Regulatory and Professional Compliance

• Maintain a valid professional license from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) as Registrar or Senior Registrar – Endodontics.
• Hold valid professional medical malpractice insurance.
• Provide proof of Hepatitis B vaccination and a valid medical fitness / communicable disease clearance.
• Comply with all Ministry of Health regulations, CBAHI standards, and occupational safety policies.
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality and data privacy.

Fourth: Collaboration and Professional Development

• Collaborate effectively with dental staff, assistants, nursing staff, and radiology technicians.
• Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities and scientific conferences.
• Contribute to clinical training and supervision of junior staff or supporting personnel when required.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements and technologies in endodontic treatment.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery (BDS or equivalent).
• Master’s degree, Fellowship, or Board certification in Endodontics from a recognized institution.
• Valid SCFHS professional license.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved provider.
• Valid medical malpractice insurance.
• Hepatitis B vaccination and medical fitness clearance.
• Fluency in Arabic and English (spoken and written).
• Proficiency in computer use and electronic medical systems.
• Knowledge or experience in Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) is an added advantage.
• Legal eligibility to work in Saudi Arabia (Saudi national or valid residency and work permit).
• Preference will be given to Saudi nationals in line with Saudization requirements.
• Preferably a minimum of two years’ experience in private clinics or hospitals.
