Barnes & Thornburg LLP is searching for an attorney to join our Indianapolis office. Candidates should have at least 1 to 2 years of legal experience, ideally litigation experience though not required, and ideally experience within energy and utilities, or administrative, or regulatory, or environmental law. Candidates who also have a background in accounting, engineering, or business law will find those skills and background helpful in analyzing and working with financial statements, rate structures, and audit reports, and also in communicating with clients, expert witnesses, and regulatory agencies. If you are passionate about advancing your legal career and have an interest in energy and utilities work, as well as administrative law, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting motions and pleadings and reviewing testimonies for matters before an administrative agency
  • Assisting with the preparation of discovery responses and objections, and reviewing discovery materials
  • Conducting comprehensive legal research

Qualifications:

  • At least 1-2 years of legal experience, ideally litigation though not required
  • Experience in energy and utilities, administrative, regulatory, or environmental law is highly valued
  • A background or undergraduate degree in accounting, engineering or business law is preferred but not required
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
  • A strong academic record
  • Admittance to the IN bar or eligibility to waive in
  • Initiative and attention to detail
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven ability to thrive as part of a collaborative team
