Main Purpose
To manage shift operations and ensure effective functioning of the Fire Station. The role involves routine maintenance of all fixed, portable, and mobile fire-fighting appliances and fire tenders during the shift. The incumbent will conduct field inspections to identify deficiencies in fire systems, coordinate rectification activities, and conduct fire-fighting training and drills to ensure emergency preparedness. The Engineer must respond promptly and effectively to all emergency or fire calls.
Job Accountabilities:
Shift Operations:
-
Perform round-the-clock shift duties, ensuring the fire crew remains prepared to respond to any emergency 24/7.
Fire Prevention and Protection:
-
Oversee all fire prevention and fire protection activities at Onshore Terminals, Shore Base, Guest Houses, Warehouses, and LFP during the shift.

Maintain detailed records of all activities and issues related to fire prevention and protection.
Shift Crew Administration:
-
Supervise crew members in carrying out the following activities:
-
Shift-wise inspection and upkeep of fire tenders.
-
Perform minor repairs and maintenance at the Fire Station, including hose binding and BA set refilling.

Repair and cleaning of landing valves and fire tender equipment.
-
Maintain and refill fire tenders with foam, water, and DCP.
-
Conduct night patrols of OT and infrastructure to detect unsafe acts or conditions.
Maintenance of Fire-Fighting Systems:

Prepare a monthly inspection and maintenance plan based on the approved annual maintenance schedule and obtain necessary approvals.

Inspect and maintain all fire-fighting systems and equipment, including extinguishers, hydrants, and monitors, as per the plan.

Coordinate with the Fire Engineer (Procurement) for timely procurement of spare parts and consumables.

Prepare monthly maintenance and deviation reports.
Procurement and Material Management:

Ensure timely procurement of spare parts, consumables, and new equipment required for Fire Station operations.

Prepare annual consumption-based projections for budgeting and procurement planning.
Fire-Fighting Training:

Assist the HOD in conducting training needs analysis, preparing annual training plans, and executing training sessions as scheduled.

Prepare and arrange all necessary equipment and resources (extinguishers, fuel, torches, firemen, etc.) for conducting fire-fighting drills and training sessions.
Emergency Response:

Ensure zero time loss while responding to any emergency or fire call.
Skills Required:
-
Thorough knowledge of fire-fighting appliances and installations.
-
Familiarity with emergency response procedures, including dos and don’ts.

Understanding of statutory requirements related to hydrocarbon installations.
-
Working knowledge of relevant standards such as NFPA, PESO, and OISD.
Qualifications and Experience

Education:
Graduate in Fire & Safety Engineering.
-
Desirable:
Knowledge of safety management at the worksite.

Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience (for graduates) in the Oil & Gas industry.
