Role Overview
The Process Engineer is responsible for performing process engineering design functions for combustion and steam turbine auxiliary systems, process equipment, and instrumentation/control design integration. This role also supports startup activities and ensures designs meet contract and schedule requirements for Mitsubishi Power’s power projects in the Americas.
The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree and 5–7 years of relevant experience with an EPC firm or combustion/steam turbine OEM. This position requires a self-starter with strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare heat and material balances and process flow diagrams (PFDs)
Develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
Create process data sheets for instrumentation and equipment
Perform and review hydraulic calculations
Conduct heat exchanger thermal calculations and pump sizing
Support control valve specification and selection
Provide startup and commissioning support for combustion and steam turbines
Participate in HAZOP, SIL reviews, punch-out, and project startup activities
Travel up to 10%

Maintain knowledge of Mitsubishi Power products and technologies

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
5–7 years’ experience with an EPC firm or combustion/steam turbine OEM
Experience with P&ID management, hydraulic calculations, and heat/material balances
Strong analytical skills and understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics
Experience with combustion or steam turbine auxiliaries system design
Familiarity with Smart Plant P&ID preferred
Advanced MS Excel skills; VBA programming knowledge is beneficial
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak to groups
Multilingual skills (Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese) beneficial but not required
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Travel to customer offices and construction sites as required
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, talk, and hear regularly
Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds
May be exposed to construction environments and must follow safety protocols, including use of PPE
