Engineer Metallurgy & Operations

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE / FUNCTIONAL CONTEXT:

Engineer-Heat Treatment will Heat handle Treatment Production & Quality, independently. Will be an interface between Production & Heat Treatment for Daily Production Planning, Daily Dispatches, Status Updates, and Hours Reporting.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handle the Shifts independently with proper Planning and Coordination with Planning Team.
  • Ensure the Processes & Documentation as per ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, 45001:2018 Systems and meet all the requirements of API Certification.
  • Set up the effective Quality Assurance System in the Heat Treatment.
  • Ensure regular reporting of Hours and Route Card movement.
  • Ensure proper utilization and availability of Heat Treatment Equipments.
  • Ensure the availability of heat treatment facility to meet the productions target above 95%.
  • Should be willing & able to Trouble shoot the problems in Furnaces & other HT Equipments.
  • Ensure availability of all the Consumables required in Heat Treatment.
  • Lead the Team of Heat Treatment Operators.
  • Ensure Training & coaching of HT Operators to develop skills and capabilities required to achieve the Organizational Goals.
  • Contribute to PK reductions through i.e. productivity improvements, process improvements.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Business Code of Practice.
  • Be part of R&D team to contribute in material science.
  • As and when required, visit the Steel supplier for Inspection.
  • Focus on Continual improvement Projects (LEAN Management Systems).

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Educational: B.E. / B. Tech – Metallurgy.

Experiential: 2 to 5 years in Metallurgy, Heat Treatment, Steel Inspection, Metallurgical Quality in Manufacturing Industry of Mining Equipment & Consumables, Auto & Engineering.

Knowledge:
  • Experience in Heat Treatment, Metallurgy, Forging, Failure Analysis, and Steel Inspection.
  • Knowledge of various Heat Treatment processes like Case Carburizing, Vacuum Heat Treatment, Nitriding, Nitro-Carburizing etc.
  • Sound knowledge of furnace operations & Processes.
  • Knowledge of different grades of raw material.
  • Hands on experience of Metallurgical Lab related activities.
  • Proven analytical ability
  • Good command of English (daily use of written and spoken form)
  • Knowledge of Movex.

  • Undertaking periodic training in safe work practices, system requirements to operating colleague and, where necessary, re-training.

DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY: "Decisions" in this context will include deciding work priorities, deciding between alternative courses of action, deciding what to recommend.

Reporting to: Team Manager – Metallurgy & Operations
Direct subordinate: HT Operators.
