Engineer (QAQC)

PURPOSE:

The role focuses on verifying compliance with technical standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements, ensuring continuous improvement of service quality, asset performance, and customer satisfaction while supporting safety and environmental objectives.

ROLES & RESPOSIBILITIES:

• Develop, implement, and maintain the QA/QC plan for all drainage and sewage network O&M activities.
• Review and update inspection and testing procedures, method statements, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Ensure all maintenance and rehabilitation works meet technical and contractual requirements.

• Conduct and witness field inspections for preventive and corrective maintenance, emergency repairs, and rehabilitation works.
• Verify workmanship and materials used for network repairs, manhole rehabilitation, and connection reinstatements.
• Oversee testing and verification processes such as CCTV surveys, flow tests, pressure tests, and leak detection.
• Coordinate with laboratory and inspection teams for material and effluent quality testing where applicable.
• Ensure compliance with relevant municipal standards, codes, and specifications for O&M works.
• Maintain all QA/QC documentation, including inspection reports, calibration records, and maintenance logs.
• Prepare and submit quality reports, trend analyses, and performance metrics (KPIs).
• Verify that “as-maintained” records and GIS data are accurate and updated.
• Identify and document Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) related to O&M works and coordinate corrective and preventive actions.
• Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and propose improvement measures.
• Monitor implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Work closely with operations, maintenance, and HSE teams to ensure alignment of QA/QC practices with operational objectives.
• Conduct quality awareness sessions and toolbox talks with site personnel and contractors.
• Support internal and external audits and assist in maintaining ISO 9001 compliance.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance service quality, efficiency, and reliability.

Experience:

• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in drainage and sewage network operations and maintenance.

Competencies:

• Experience in QA/QC roles related to drainage and sewage network O&M projects.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 systems.
• Relevant training in quality management is an advantage.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
• Attentive to details.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in any Engineering Course or relevant experience.
