A QS (Quantity Surveyor) Engineer manages the financial and contractual aspects of construction projects, focusing on cost control, estimation, budgeting, and procurement. Their core duties include preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ), tenders, contracts, billings, progress reports, claims, and final accounts, architects, and subcontractors to ensure projects stay within budget and meet quality standards. Key Responsibilities
- Cost Management: Cost estimation, budgeting, cost planning, and financial reporting.
- Procurement & Tendering: Preparing tender documents, BOQs, contract drafting, and negotiating with suppliers/subcontractors.
- Contract Administration: Managing contracts, certifying payments, handling variations, and resolving disputes.
- Project Monitoring: Tracking financial performance, preparing progress reports (DPRs).
- Risk & Value Management: Identifying potential risks, advising on value engineering, and ensuring compliance.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Engineering degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying/Construction.
- Technical Skills: Strong math, accounting, analytical, and computer skills (QS software).
- Soft Skills: Attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, negotiation, and time management.
