Ensure safe energization and reliable operation of substation systems.
Pre-Commissioning Activities

Review approved drawings, schematics, and protection philosophies.

Verify installation of equipment as per approved GA drawings.
-
Check cable terminations, ferruling, glandings, and tagging.

Conduct visual and mechanical inspections of installed equipment.

Ensure calibration of testing instruments before use.
Primary Equipment Testing
-
Power Transformers (IR test, TTR, winding resistance, vector group check).
-
Circuit Breakers (timing test, contact resistance test).
-
Current Transformers (CT ratio & polarity test).
-
Potential/Voltage Transformers (PT/VT testing).
-
Isolators and earthing switches.
-
Busbar continuity and insulation resistance testing.
-
Perform SF6 gas pressure and leakage checks (where applicable).
Protection & Control Testing

Test protection relays (overcurrent, differential, earth fault, distance).

Conduct secondary injection and primary injection tests.

Perform functional logic checks as per protection scheme.

Test control circuits, annunciation systems, and interlocks.

Verify SCADA signals and communication interfaces.
System Integration & Commissioning

Conduct end-to-end testing of protection schemes.

Perform transformer energization procedures.

Support synchronization of panels and feeders.

Coordinate shutdown activities for testing.
