Under the direction of a Marine Group Project Manager or Group Chief, the responsibilities of this position include:
Engineer/Architect 2: (Range 23)
This position will manage small-to-medium-sized design and/or construction projects ranging from AMHS ferry terminals to State-owned harbor and seaplane facilities.
Engineer/Architect 3: (Range 25)
This position will manage multiple medium-to-large-sized design and/or construction projects ranging from AMHS ferry terminals to State-owned harbor and seaplane facilities.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
The location of this position is flexible. Applicants can work in our office located within the DOT&PF 7-mile office building in Juneau, Alaska, or they can work remotely from any location in the State as long as it is pre-approved by the State and has cellphone and high-speed internet service.
The office work environment is "casual-professional", team-oriented, and friendly. Design and inspection assignments can involve travel to remote waterfront facilities in communities stretching all along the southern coast of Alaska, from the Aleutian Chain up to Prince William Sound and down to the tip of Southeast Alaska. We reach most of our facilities by a combination of the following: major airlines, driving, small aircraft including float planes, and boats.
For applicants wanting to live and work in Juneau: Juneau is located in a temperate rainforest with steep-sided mountains, glaciers, and deep fjords within its boundaries. Outdoor recreational opportunities are abundant, and Juneau is famous for its spectacular scenery. Hiking, trail running, skiing, bicycling, fishing, and hunting are popular pastimes.

Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect, and one year of professional experience as an Engineer/Architect 1 or Engineering Associate with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent.
Special Note:
Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b). Persons employed under this provision must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.
Engineer/Architect 3
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect, and three years of professional engineering or architectural experience (Engineer/Architect series), or the equivalent.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the Engineer/Architect 2 or Engineer/Architect 3 level, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at Level 2, promotion to the Level 3 will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.
