Position Summary

Overton Industries is seeking a detail‑oriented Engineering Assistant to manage job set‑ups, documentation, and customer order review. This role supports project managers, maintains accurate engineering and production records, and ensures smooth workflow across departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review customer purchase orders for accuracy and alignment with the quoted package; communicate with customers to resolve discrepancies when needed.
  • Initiate job set‑ups, ensuring all required documentation is prepared, organized, and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Release completed job set‑ups to the production floor following Project Manager review and approval.
  • Provide support to the Project Manager and project team, including document distribution, scanning, copying, and other administrative tasks.
  • Assist with answering incoming phone calls and directing inquiries appropriately.
  • Review and issue “Engineering Certified” drawings in accordance with internal procedures.
  • Scan and upload drawings into the company’s document management system to ensure accurate and accessible records.
  • Match incoming packing slips for customer‑supplied materials with corresponding purchase orders.
  • Enter received material information into the system to maintain accurate inventory and project records.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an administrative office support role, preferably within the engineering or manufacturing industry.

  • Skills:

    • Effective computer skills using Microsoft Office, Excel, Job Boss, AutoCAD, Master Cam, and SolidWorks
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Effective analytical problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented atmosphere.
    • Strong work ethic with the ability to multitask.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.

  • Certifications: Forklift certification or other relevant certifications are a plus.

Work Environment

  • The role involves working in a manufacturing facility with exposure to machinery, noise, and metalworking fluids.

  • Standard shift hours with potential for overtime or shift work based on production needs.
