The Engineering Designer will demonstrate advanced utilization of the PTC suite of design and PLM programs (Creo and Windchill) to design and layout component parts, including subassembly and assembly structuring and top-level vehicle large assembly management. This role involves working closely with the global Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) team to develop mechanical designs in support of value engineering and margin improvement projects.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Support Engineering in the development of product designs and solutions to complex technical requirements, while focusing on improving product performance, reliability, safety, manufacturability and cost effectiveness.

Utilize PTC design and PLM programs (Creo Parametric and Windchill) to design and release Engineering CAD models and detailed drawings of various mechanical components and assemblies with integrated BOMs. Effectively apply GD&T industry standards and ensure all drawings and CAD models meet company standards.

Utilize data and brainstorming techniques to develop VA/VE project opportunities and associated business cases.

Participate in technical and project reviews across the VA/VE project portfolio and provide feedback on design solutions, risks and mitigations, timing plans, etc.

Collaborate with internal manufacturing team and external suppliers to review and refine design concepts and drawings.

Collaborate with internal design team to share best practices, strengthen capabilities, and formally document design process improvements.

Provide mentorship to less-experienced design team members both locally and across global team.

Effectively lead and self-manage small VA/VE projects when needed. Responsibilities include completing designs and drawings, releasing engineering documentation, managing project timeline, and communicating project status.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:
-
Associates Degree or Bachelor of Science degree in related field, preferably in Drafting or Engineering Technology
Experience:
-
5+ years of relevant CAD design experience, preferably in PTC Creo
-
Understanding of and experience in applying ASME Y14.5-2009 drafting standards and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards

Creo advanced surfacing proficiency desired, with experience in designing plastic components

Understanding and ability to apply Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) techniques

Intermediate to advanced computer skills (MS Office, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)
