Key responsibilities:
  • Act as the technical lead and are responsible for the mechanical design team deliverables and technology development roadmap.
  • Mentor a function team that is accountable for delivering mechanical/thermal/stress analysis solutions to different product families, such as external cavity laser (ECL), ZR (DBR) based low-cost laser for ZR application, ICR, Sipho components, and cloud components.
  • A clear Silicon Valley function team capability development roadmap to enhance function team capability to support on-going and future technical supports needs.
  • Clear Silicon Valley function team development strategy to introduce or grow the right expertise needed to support coming years of product development roadmap.
  • Perform or mentor team members on thermal and stress simulation using Finite Element Analysis and mechanical tolerance stack-up analysis, assure design for performance, cost, reliability and high-volume manufacturing.
  • Provide mechanical design solutions or mentorship going all the way of product development life cycle through conceptual design, fast prototyping, design verification, fixture/tooling design for optimal optical alignment, testers for module test and product EVT and DVT, and production ramp up in CM.
  • Interact with cross-functional internal design engineers global-wide and external vendors taking optical transceiver products from conception to manufacturing
  • Participate and support customer meetings and on-site live demo.
  • Actively provide technical guidance and inputs for company’s next generation coherent transceiver module product development strategy and roadmap.
Education and/or Experience: Masters, or preferably a Doctoral Degree from an accredited university in mechanical engineering or related majors. A minimum of 10 years of industry experience is required, but ideally the candidate will have 15 or more years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Particular importance is placed on previous industry experience with high-speed OSA components design, stress analysis and thermal management. Multi-disciplinary background with a demonstrated record of innovation. Excellent communication and writing skills are desired.
Computer Skills: deep knowledge and expertise on mechanical design and thermal simulation software such as Solidworks, FloTHERM, or equivalent mechanical design simulation tools is essential. Basic programming skills in a number of languages (Visual Basic, C, Matlab, etc) to enable test scripting and automation, and experience with data analysis software such as SAS JMP is desirable.

Pay Range:
P80-USA-1 :$145,550.00 - $207,900.00
