Engineering Lab Technician

General Packaging Corporation, a privately held regional packaging manufacturer, is seeking to hire a qualified Engineering Lab Technician to support its Engineering Department in the development and production of packaging prototypes/samples. This manufacturer specializes in custom packaging solutions and operates across three main product categories: (i) Corrugated Products; (ii) Foam Fabrication; and Wood Products.

This employment opportunity is a full-time, on-site position located at the company’s corporate office in the Richardson, Texas area. This role offers an excellent opportunity for candidates with a technical background who are detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and capable of supporting multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

The position will be paid hourly, $24-$27 per hour (based on experience).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Operate the Esko Kongsberg sample table to fabricate packaging prototypes and samples
  • Assist in the interpretation and handling of technical drawings, blueprints, and packaging specifications
  • Organize, maintain, and track lab materials, inventory, and sample components
  • Provide general technical and administrative support to the Engineering Department
  • Assist in maintaining accurate documentation and records for engineering projects

Preferred Qualifications and Technical Skills:

  • Basic understanding of technical drawings and mechanical design concepts
  • Familiarity with CAD software (such as AutoCAD, ArtiosCAD, or SolidWorks) is preferred
  • Experience working with packaging materials, tools, or fabrication equipment is a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on technical work

Work Environment:
This position involves working in an engineering lab setting and may require occasional lifting, handling of packaging materials, and the use of cutting or fabrication equipment under appropriate supervision and training.

· High School Diploma required/ Minimum of 2 years of college engineering experience is preferred

· Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred, but not required

· US Citizenship or valid work visa required
