Engineering Lead - Swift

Monday 30 March 2026 Hybrid Working The purpose of the Engineering Lead is to work with the Lab Product Owner to provide effectively leadership and management of the teams in their Labs. Specifically, this requires setting the vision, mobilisation of the teams required to deliver it and ensuring effective delivery execution. With the Lab PO they are also responsible for all operational management activities including workforce plans, risk and issue mitigation and cost management. There is a particular focus on the ways of working and overall engineering experience, where the Engineering Lead is responsible for creating the right environment for effective delivery which will include the identification of blockers and action plans to remove them.

• Takes responsibility for setting and managing area budgets so that they align with organisational strategy.
• Takes overall responsibility for designing, developing and delivering custom data management systems for the organisation.
• Takes responsibility to formally grow capabilities within a significant functional area of the business, while personally investing in the growth of own and others' capabilities elsewhere in the organisation through mentoring and other informal methods.
• Takes responsibility for developing and delivering change management plans and achieving outcomes that support the organisation's overall strategy.
• Takes responsibility for developing and implementing IT Security policies for a broad area within the organisation.
• Takes overall responsibility for designing, developing and delivering custom knowledge management systems for the organisation.
• Takes responsibility for fulfilling business plans for a significant functional business area by effectively leading a large team.
• Develops long term objectives and takes responsibility for implementing and coordinating a performance management culture for a significant functional area of the organisation.
• Takes responsibility for developing and delivering a major part of the organisation's product development programme in order to enable overall corporate strategy.
• Develops strategic solutions to long-term business needs by anticipating complex issues, challenges and opportunities.
• Develops the strategy to achieve medium term business needs for a significant area of responsibility e.g. a function by anticipating complex issues, challenges and opportunities and ensures implementation and execution of the strategy.
