Engineering Manager - 1st shift - NAIC2

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or engineering preferred.
  • 5 years progressive experience in a related field.
  • 2 years specializing in configuring and supporting the integration of enterprise network and storage solutions or equivalent experience.
  • Strong Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for structured cabling systems using various cable types.
  • Ability to work independently and solve customer-facing problems.
  • Experience with variety of technologies across networking, systems and tools

  • Resolves issues by diagnosing problems, determining possible resolutions and implementing effective solutions.
  • Demonstrates the discipline of planning, organizing and managing resources and activities to achieve specified outcomes within a clearly defined timeframe and standards.
  • Identifies documentation needs and develops technical reference documentation in accordance with standards and styles.
  • Communicates with clarity and precision, presenting complex information in a concise format that is audience appropriate.
  • Serves in a “player coach” role by managing, reviewing and conducting the day-to-day work in a specific technical domain area; applies domain knowledge to develop solutions to problems.
  • Leverages technical knowledge of products to meet customer needs and understands market segments as well as market data trends.
  • Demonstrates a concern for accuracy and thoroughness so that sufficiently detailed information is logged correctly.
  • This role includes assignment of work for specific WWT customers. Some customers have specific on-boarding requirements, including background check and drug testing requirements that go beyond WWT's requirements. Ability to meet these requirements may be necessary for continued employment, depending on needs of the department.

Compensation/ Benefits

Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this position is $110,400 - $135,000 annually. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base salary.

WWT's Integration Technology Center teams work in a climate-controlled production environment with advanced networking, secure remote access, and certified procedures specifically designed for staging, kitting, and configuring the latest advanced technology solutions. The team consists of certified engineers with logistical and technical expertise to help reduce the risk, cost, and complexity of IT deployments.

A Brief Overview
Work with internal partners and customers to provide qualified staff for our Integration Technology Center services engagements. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for developing a strategy and plan to handle future growth in the various technical verticals through resource capacity planning, training, and process improvement. The successful manager will also provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the engineers as they execute their assigned engagements. Makes recommendations on process and/or system enhancements and propagates a continuous improvement culture across the team. Responsibilities include leading, developing, planning, and directing staff in support of department goals and objectives.

Job Responsibilities
  • A working manager who leads a team of various leaders and Engineering professionals
  • Monitors, measures, and communicates KPI and Cost Center financial performance and uses this detail to standardize, improve or change the process to deliver operational excellence
  • Accountable for professional and personal development of direct reports to continue growth and responsible for identification and development of future leaders of the organization
  • Maintain compliance with safety and quality requirements.
  • Manages performance and behavior of direct reports through effective 1:1 meetings, coaching and mentorship
  • Participates in recruitment and selection activities including role modeling through hiring decisions and processes
  • Control costs through the productivity of personnel, efficient utilization of lab area, and purchases.
  • Scale labor & meet production demands through effective scheduling & assignment of employees.
  • Develops and maintains the ongoing collaborative relationship with the customer, team, and all operational organizations
  • Promotes the World Wide Technology Integrated Management and Leadership tools and concepts
  • Reviewing operational reports to identify trends and ensure operations are running smoothly
  • Services internal and external customer escalation issues, providing proactive solutions/mitigation action plans
  • Demonstrates excellent time-management skills and the ability to work independently while using departmental resources, policies, and procedures
  • Implement communications strategy across their respective department.
