About the team: the Data quality and observability team works on the topic of reliability across several lenses: platform, data and AI. The needs addressed by the team are diverse, spanning both critical areas like risk and compliance, as well as exciting greenfield initiatives that require new assessments, the effort is at multi-org and multi-company level
Role Description: This role entails building and leading a new Bangalore team, designed to integrate with the existing Amsterdam track. The team will be responsible for developing an enterprise data quality and data observability solution that enable the company to track payment and other critical data to ensure the minimum set of requirements are followed.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:
People Leadership
Directly manage engineers
Lead by example by taking ownership, being proactive and collaborating

Technology, Craft & Delivery
Experience in designing and architecting APIs, dealing with high traffic
Experience in large scale data processing and workflow management
Mastery in technology leadership
Engineering delivery, quality and practices within own team
Delivery of the wider engineering strategic objectives
Embed agile ways of working and company values within the team
Ability to get into the technical detail (where required) to coach, support and mentor the team
Adhere to the default principles for architecture, quality and non-functional requirements
Contribute to the evolution of best practices across the department
Drive a culture of ownership and technical excellence, including reactive work such as incident escalations
Learn new technologies and keep abreast of existing technologies to be able to share learnings and apply these to a variety of projects when needed
A strong data product mindset, treating data observability as a core feature and data as a product
Architecture & Product Strategy
Define, shape and deliver the roadmap
Build new products, processes and operational plans
Negotiate on the strategic importance of own product roadmap features
Drive innovation in the team
Own the architecture across the team
This role may require participation in an on-call rotation.
Role Qualifications and Requirements:
5+ years of experience in software development within a team.
At least 2 years of experience leading and managing a team of engineers in a fast-paced and complex environment.
Experience working with public cloud providers such as AWS
Proven track record of hands-on technical leadership. Experience with big data tools (e.g. Spark or Flink) and Kafka are a plus.
Proven experience with incident management, on-call rotations, and implementing reliability best practices.
Strong understanding of observability principles (metrics, tracing, logging) applied to complex data systems.
Strong understanding of SRE principles and frameworks (e.g. Google SRE book)
Knowledge Engineering concepts (e.g. Knowledge Graphs, Graph Queries, Semantic Web, etc.) and Data Governance (Quality, Stewardship, Security, Compliance, Architecture) are strong pluses
Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
Strong technical skills (Coding & System design) with the ability to get hands-on with your team if needed
Excellent communicator with strong stakeholder management experience, good commercial awareness and technical vision
