The intern will get hands-on exposure to real-world engineering in a manufacturing environment and drive data‑driven decision‑making across R&D, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain. Your primary project—Design To The Target (DTTT)—focuses on collecting critical tire component data, quantifying variation, and collaborating with the R&D team to calculate specifications and tolerances that meet performance/cost targets. You’ll support continuous improvement by baselining current performance, analyzing root causes, and validating post‑improvement results. This position reports to the R&D Manager.
Working on the Design To The Target- DTTT project. The project goal is to improve specification accuracy and understanding process variation.
Map tire component characteristics (e.g., thickness, width, mass, durometer hardness, cord EPI/angle) and identify key sources of variation across processes.
MSA-Measuring system analysis may be conducted before data collection.
Prepare reports and data summaries to support tire specification design and continuous improvement activities.
Assist in identifying the areas for improvement within manufacturing and engineering workflows.
Collect, analyze, and interpret the data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
Support tire specifications under guidance of the R&D team.
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities using structured problem-solving tools.
