Overview:

Looking for an exciting new challenge in the hospitality industry? Our hotel is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Engineering Supervisor to join our team!


In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of all mechanical and electrical equipment within the hotel, ensuring that our guests have a safe and comfortable stay. An Engineering Supervisor maintains high morale for engineering shift; teaches engineering staff how to maintain and repair equipment; solicits suggestions or input from other members of the engineering team; discusses problems with employees as they come up.

The Higgins Hotel & Conference Center’s name reflects the contributions of the extraordinary entrepreneur, Andrew Higgins, who designed and built over 20,000 boats in New Orleans that were used in every major amphibious assault of World War II.


Conveniently located directly across the street from The National WWII Museum, the hotel offers 230 era-inspired guest rooms and specialty suites, premium amenities, full-service restaurant, lounge, and a rooftop bar, as well as a second-floor conference center with more than 18,000 square feet of meeting and event space.


Responsibilities


  • Adhere to all work order policies and procedures; communicate parts and materials needs to supervisor in a timely manner and inform supervisor on job and project status
  • Maintain and repair all equipment in kitchen, guestrooms, convention areas and public space. Repair refrigeration, plumbing and electrical fixtures in guestrooms, kitchen or laundry to manufacturer’s specifications
  • Maintain and repair carpet, wall covering, furniture, painted surfaces, change burned out light bulbs and other cosmetic repairs in guest rooms, tower, convention area, public areas and as assigned, preventive maintenance
  • Assist in the training and development of new engineers
  • Manage administrative responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
  • Attend all mandatory meetings
Qualifications:
  • Read, write, speak and understand English
  • Basic computer skills, administrative skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office products preferred
  • Hotel or facilities experience of 3-5 years preferred
  • Refrigeration, HVAC certification or journeyman level experience
  • Previous management or supervisory experience of 2-3 years
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, emergency, preventative maintenance systems and all related disciplines
  • Ability to communicate effectively with public and other employees
