Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English As A Second Language (ESL) Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching English to non-native speakers and will be committed to fostering a positive learning environment. This role involves developing engaging lesson plans, assessing student progress, and providing tailored support to meet the diverse needs of our students.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement effective ESL curriculum that caters to various learning styles and proficiency levels.
- Develop lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math, and language skills.
- Utilize learning technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student engagement.
- Assess student performance through standardized testing and provide constructive feedback.
- Manage classroom dynamics effectively, ensuring a supportive environment for all learners.
- Mentor students in their language acquisition journey, offering guidance and support as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and classroom management strategies.
- Provide tutoring and additional support for students requiring extra assistance.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in ESL education.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with students, particularly in an ESL setting.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to connect with diverse learners.
- Experience in classroom management and behavior management techniques.
- Background in early childhood education or childhood development is preferred.
- Familiarity with special education practices and working with individuals on the autism spectrum is a plus.
- Knowledge of Montessori methods or private school experience is advantageous.
- Ability to develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate physical education when appropriate.
- Proficiency in proofreading, writing skills, and curriculum development is essential.
