English Teacher

Job Purpose:

The English Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality English language and literature instruction, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills among students. The role involves lesson planning, classroom management, student assessment, and contribution to the overall academic development of the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons aligned with the curriculum and educational standards.
• Teach grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills effectively.
• Introduce students to literature, poetry, and prose while developing their analytical and interpretive skills.
• Develop lesson plans and teaching materials that cater to students’ varying learning abilities and styles.
• Assess, evaluate, and monitor student progress through tests, assignments, projects, and classroom participation.
• Provide constructive feedback to students to improve their performance and confidence in English.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
• Support students in enhancing their communication, presentation, and creative writing skills.
• Maintain classroom discipline in line with school policies and encourage respect, responsibility, and punctuality.
• Collaborate with colleagues and school administration to plan academic activities, events, and co-curricular programs.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding students’ progress, strengths, and areas for improvement.
• Stay updated with new teaching strategies, tools, and methodologies to improve classroom effectiveness.
• Organize debates, speech contests, drama, and other activities to promote language development.
• Participate in teacher training workshops and professional development opportunities.
• Perform other academic or administrative duties as assigned by the Head of Department/Principal.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in English Language, English Literature, or Education (B.Ed/M.Ed preferred).
• Strong command of English language and literature.
• Prior teaching experience in a school/college environment is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to use technology and digital learning tools in teaching.
