English Teacher

Overview

Responsibilities

• Design and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating creative writing, literacy education, and language arts fundamentals.
• Develop engaging instructional materials utilizing learning technology to enhance student participation and understanding.
• Conduct assessments including standardized testing and formative evaluations to monitor student progress and tailor instruction accordingly.
• Provide constructive feedback through proofreading, copy editing, and editing student work to improve writing skills and clarity.
• Mentor students by offering academic advising, supporting special education needs, and fostering a growth mindset.
• Manage classroom behavior effectively through classroom management techniques that promote a respectful learning environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and school-wide initiatives to improve educational outcomes.
• Incorporate research-based teaching methods such as Montessori or other pedagogical approaches to meet diverse learning styles.
• Support students’ extracurricular engagement by guiding creative projects or journalism activities that enhance communication skills.
• Maintain organized records of lesson plans, student performance data, and instructional materials in compliance with education administration standards.

Experience

• Proven classroom experience teaching English at the middle or high school level in a formal educational setting.
• Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional design tailored to various learner needs.
• Strong background in literacy education, standardized testing preparation, and research methodologies related to language arts.
• Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds including private school environments or special education settings preferred.
• Knowledge of AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, linguistics principles, and copy editing techniques to elevate student writing quality.
• Familiarity with learning technology tools such as digital platforms for instruction, assessment software, and library services integration.
• Effective communication skills combined with organizational skills necessary for managing multiple classes and administrative tasks.
• Prior experience mentoring or tutoring students individually or in small groups to support academic achievement.
