Role Summary
The English Teacher at Diyar Schools delivers high-quality instruction that develops students’ literacy, critical thinking, and communication skills. The role requires strong subject knowledge, effective classroom practice, and a commitment to student growth through purposeful teaching, assessment, and feedback within a US standards-based curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons aligned to US standards and school curriculum expectations.
- Apply principles of backward design (Understanding by Design) to ensure coherence between learning outcomes, instruction, and assessment.
- Teach reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through purposeful, student-centered instruction.
- Promote critical thinking, analysis, creativity, and effective communication.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English language learners and students requiring additional support.
Assessment & Feedback
- Use a range of formative and summative assessments to evaluate learning and inform instruction.
- Track and monitor student progress using assessment evidence and performance data.
- Provide timely, specific, and constructive feedback to support growth and achievement.
- Support standards-based assessment and reporting practices, as required.
Learning Environment
- Create a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that supports positive behavior and academic success.
- Establish clear expectations and routines that maximize learning time and student responsibility.
- Encourage students to take ownership of their learning and demonstrate academic integrity.
Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support vertical and horizontal alignment of standards-based instruction.
- Contribute to department planning, resource development, and school-wide literacy initiatives.
- Engage in professional development, reflective practice, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain positive professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in English or a related field
- Qualified Teacher Status / Teaching certification (home country or equivalent)
- MOE Equivalency and Teacher License (or eligibility to obtain these)
- Strong subject knowledge in English language and literature
- Demonstrated understanding of US standards-based curriculum and backward design (UbD)
- Proven ability to deliver effective literacy instruction and inspire student learning
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills
- Commitment to professional growth and ethical practice
- English proficiency requirement: IELTS Academic score of 8.0+ OR Native English speaker
