Enrolled Agent, Tax Resolution Associate

At Dickmann Tax Group, we do tax resolution differently. We guarantee our work, proudly maintain a perfect Better Business Bureau rating, and have built a firm focused on doing excellent work without the burnout culture common in this industry. Our team is growing because clients trust us, our systems work, and we believe people do their best work when they have the support, structure, and work-life balance they need to succeed.

We are looking for an Enrolled Agent / Tax Resolution Associate who wants to help clients solve serious IRS and state tax problems while continuing to grow professionally. This role may be a strong fit whether you are an experienced tax resolution professional looking for better support and a healthier work environment, or a tax paralegal with an EA license who is ready to take the next step in your career.

As a member of our tax resolution team, you will help clients navigate complex tax issues, communicate with taxing authorities, analyze financial information, and develop practical resolution strategies. You will play an important role in delivering high-quality representation with professionalism, accuracy, and care. If you are diligent, client-focused, and interested in building a long-term career with a firm that values both performance and quality of life, we would like to speak with you.

Key Responsibilities

As an Enrolled Agent / Tax Resolution Associate, you will be responsible for helping clients move through the tax resolution process with professionalism, accuracy, and care. Responsibilities include:

  • Client Representation: Represent clients before the IRS and state taxing authorities in a professional, ethical, and client-focused manner.
  • Client Communication: Maintain clear and timely communication with clients, keeping them informed about the status of their case, required documents, next steps, and expected timelines.
  • Taxing Authority Communication: Communicate with the IRS and state taxing authorities to obtain account information, resolve compliance issues, negotiate case outcomes, and move client matters toward resolution.
  • Case Review and Management: Regularly review assigned client files to ensure cases are progressing appropriately, deadlines are being met, and all required information is properly documented.
  • Financial Review and Resolution Strategy: Review client financial documents, tax transcripts, notices, and supporting records to help determine appropriate resolution options, including installment agreements, penalty abatements, currently not collectible status, offers in compromise, and related strategies.
  • Proposal and Submission Preparation: Assist with preparing resolution proposals, financial statements, written explanations, and supporting documentation for submission to the IRS and state taxing authorities.
  • Document and File Management: Maintain organized electronic client files, accurate case notes, and complete records within the firm’s client management system.
  • Notice and Correspondence Review: Review IRS and state tax notices, letters, and account updates to identify required action and ensure accurate, timely responses.
  • Collection Resolution: Assist clients with resolving collection issues, including tax liens, levies, wage garnishments, bank levies, and related enforcement actions.
  • Assigned Client Caseload: Manage an assigned caseload of clients, providing consistent service, follow-through, and support from case onboarding through resolution.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

A successful Enrolled Agent / Tax Resolution Associate at Dickmann Tax Group is someone who combines technical tax knowledge with strong communication, organization, and judgment. Success in this role includes:

  • Tax Resolution Knowledge: You understand IRS and state collection processes, taxpayer rights, compliance requirements, and common tax resolution strategies. You are able to apply tax rules, procedures, and agency guidance to real client situations.
  • Client-Focused Communication: You communicate clearly, professionally, and empathetically with clients who may be under significant financial stress. You can explain complex tax issues in a way clients understand.
  • Strong Case Ownership: You take responsibility for your assigned cases, stay on top of deadlines, follow up consistently, and keep matters moving toward resolution.
  • Attention to Detail: You are careful with financial information, forms, notices, transcripts, deadlines, and case notes. Accuracy matters in this role.
  • Negotiation and Problem Solving: You are comfortable communicating with IRS and state representatives, identifying options, and advocating for practical resolutions on behalf of clients.
  • Technical Comfort: You are comfortable using online tools such as Google Workspace, electronic document systems, and client management software.
  • Professional Growth: You are committed to continuing education and ongoing improvement in tax resolution, IRS procedure, client service, and case strategy.
  • Dependability and Initiative: You are reliable, organized, adaptable, and able to prioritize work effectively. You do not wait for every next step to be assigned when the correct next action is clear.
