We are seeking a meticulous and knowledgeable Environment Control Specialist to uphold our stringent environmental health and safety protocols.
The Opportunity
As an Environment Control Specialist, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the health and safety of everyone within our facility. You will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and improving the hospital's environmental conditions to ensure compliance with national and international health standards. Your work will directly impact infection prevention, patient outcomes, and overall hospital safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitoring & Sampling: Conduct regular environmental sampling and monitoring of air quality, water systems, surface hygiene, and temperature/humidity levels in critical areas (OR, ICU, NICU, etc.).
- Infection Control Support: Work closely with the Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) team to investigate and mitigate environmental sources of infection and contamination.
- Pest Control Management: Oversee and coordinate the hospital's integrated pest management (IPM) program, ensuring effective and safe practices.
- Waste Management: Monitor and audit the handling, segregation, storage, and disposal of biomedical, hazardous, and general waste in compliance with KSA regulations.
- Compliance & Audits: Ensure strict adherence to environmental health standards set by the Saudi Ministry of Health (MOH), CBAHI, and other relevant accreditation bodies (e.g., JCI). Conduct internal audits and prepare for external inspections.
- Procedure Development: Assist in developing, updating, and implementing environmental control policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Training & Education: Provide training and guidance to housekeeping, maintenance, and clinical staff on proper environmental hygiene practices.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all monitoring activities, audits, inspections, and corrective actions taken. Prepare detailed reports for management.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Health, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in environmental monitoring, infection control, or public health, preferably within a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Strong understanding of microbiology principles and their application in infection prevention.
- Knowledge of key healthcare standards and regulations (e.g., CBAHI, JCI, MOH requirements).
- Proficiency in using monitoring equipment and interpreting results.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Desirable:
- Professional certification in Infection Control (CIC) or related environmental health fields.
- Experience with healthcare waste management protocols.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and their impact on indoor air quality in healthcare settings.
- Proficiency in Arabic.
