Environment, Health and Safety Manager

Responsibilities
  • Oversee quality, health, safety, environmental, and security management across fleet and shore-based operations
  • Implement and maintain management system documentation, procedures, and work instructions in line with ISM Code and ISO standards
  • Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective/preventive actions to closure
  • Conduct audits, safety inspections (vessel and shore-based), and compliance reviews against statutory, classification, and client requirements
  • Analyse accident/incident data, identify trends, and report findings to senior management
  • Coordinate with classification societies, flag state authorities, and other regulatory bodies to ensure ongoing certification and compliance
  • Design and deliver HSEQ training programmes, safety campaigns, safety flashes, and induction processes
  • Manage risk assessment programmes, permit-to-work systems, and control-of-work processes
  • Prepare data and reports for periodic and annual management reviews
  • Lead and develop the safety team - setting objectives, managing performance, and mentoring direct reports
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Professional H&S certification (e.g. NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH)
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a QHSE role, preferably within the marine/maritime industry
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
  • Strong understanding of marine safety regulations and environmental legislation
  • Proven experience with risk assessment and management techniques
  • Proficiency in HSEQ management systems and reporting software
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving ability
