Merjent, Inc. (Merjent) has an exciting opportunity for a mid-level Environmental Consultant with demonstrated success in stakeholder and community engagement for energy and technology projects across the country. Technical knowledge of federal, state and local stakeholder engagement strategies is required, with specific emphasis on Federal Energy and Regulatory Commission (FERC) natural gas and LNG projects, resource reports and understanding of strategies related to Environmental Justice.

This is a full-time benefits eligible opportunity that can be based anywhere in the United States. The anticipated annual salary for this position is between $77,000 and $92,000 annually, depending upon qualifications and experience. This position is bonus eligible.

responsibilities

  • Serve as the Deputy Project Manager or Task Lead for Energy Sector projects (i.e., solar, wind, battery storage, transmission, natural gas, LNG, nuclear), which may vary in size and complexity.
  • Work with Energy Sector Project Managers to build and collaboratively manage project teams.
  • Assist with project budgeting, scheduling and managing project risk through implementation of standard project management processes and tools.
  • Work with Energy Sector Project and Task Managers, internal project teams, and external clients in a manner that is consistent with Merjent's reputation for excellence and meets the company's strategic plan goals.
  • Actively participate and prepare analyses of the social and community impacts of solar, wind, battery storage, transmission, natural gas, LNG or nuclear development projects, including analyses to support development of project-specific mitigation strategies.
  • Support administrative functions as needed, including document production, community open house planning, elected official outreach planning and engagement strategic planning.


qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science or environmental studies, public affairs, political science, or closely related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience or familiarity with permitting processes through the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) federal land management agencies, or other federal, state, or local regulatory agencies, with preference to work completed in the identified energy or technology industries in North America.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience or familiarity with project management and/or deputy project management preferred.
  • Strong oral communication and technical writing skills.
