The Department of the Prosecuting Attorney, City and County of Honolulu, is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic person with community organizing skills for the newly created position of Safe & Sound Westside Coordinator. This position reports to the Prosecuting Attorney and is responsible for implementing and administering all aspects of the Safe and Sound Westside initiative that launched in November 2024. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fostering and developing community partnerships along the Westside coast from Kahe Point to Mākaha. These partnerships will be the anchor for developing various programs to meet the needs of the residents on the Westside and align with the Safe & Sound law enforcement strategies in place to reduce criminal activity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Outreach and Engagement: Develop and execute outreach strategies to connect and engage with the Westside community members, groups, law enforcement, and local businesses and organizations.
  • Program Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute community programs, events, meetings, and other activities that align with the Safe & Sound Westside strategic vision to reduce criminal activity and meet the needs of the residents. This includes managing logistics, seeking out grant opportunities, managing staff as needed, promoting events, and any other activities to accomplish the goals of the Safe & Sound Westside initiative.
  • Partnership Building: Cultivate and maintain strong, positive relationships with local leaders, community partners, and stakeholders to identify collaborative opportunities to benefit the residents of the Westside.
  • Communications: Manage any communication as it pertains to events and programs related to Safe & Sound Westside.
  • Reporting and Evaluation: Monitor and track the effectiveness of programs and outreach efforts, preparing reports on outcomes and community needs, as well as managing and reporting on any grants received that support Safe & Sound Westside.
  • Resource Advocacy: Assist the community by connecting with relevant programs and resources to address the needs to positively improve the quality of life of residents on the Westside.

Qualifications:

  • A combination of education and/or experience substantially equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field
  • Familiarity with the Westside area from Kahe Point to Mākaha
  • Experience in planning, developing, and evaluating programs
  • Experience with grant writing and grant monitoring
  • Experience in organizational management
  • Experience in building a successful team
  • Experience with community engagement
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills

Compensation:

Salary ranges from $78,420 to $111,624, depending on experience and qualifications.
