Environmental Coordinator

Rancho Tree Service is seeking a qualified biologist to join our Environmental Department as a Wildlife Biologist. This position will be located within Rancho Assigned Territories. The ideal candidate will be a field biologist with strong vegetation management experience who has managed complex biological resource issues. In this position, you will lead environmental and biological projects and teams within the utility and consulting industry, pursuing project opportunities, overseeing and conducting surveys and scheduling monitoring.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

· Conduct biological fieldwork and manage field teams

· Identify Central and Southern California flora/fauna

· Conduct special-status species surveys, nesting bird surveys

· Take initiative in team development

· Comfortable with public speaking for Toolboxes

· Making positive relationships with clients

· Organize and schedule field surveys

· Prepare reports summarizing methodology, field survey results and recommendations

· Conduct site inspections and field investigations to gather data necessary

· Collaborate with experts across disciplines to promote multi-objective solutions

Minimum Requirements:
- B.S. in Biology, Natural Resources, Plant Science, Conservation Science, Environmental Science or related discipline or an associate degree plus – two (2) years of applicable experience supporting environmental on utility system.

- Strong knowledge with central/southern California flora and fauna

- Knowledge and familiarity with field implementation, data gathering and collection using GPS and GIS tools

o Excel, Microsoft, Field Maps, Google Earth, Canvas

- Have a willingness and ability to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions when needed

- Willing to drive long distances, tough terrain, or during inclement weather

- Outstanding oral and written communication skills

- Current valid Driver’s License and safe driving history

Preferred Requirements:
- 2-5 years of field work, previous experience conducting nesting bird and/or special status wildlife surveys

- Strong knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations

- Have verifiable experience with special status species

- Has experience working with Utility Vegetation Management Program

- Fluent in Spanish and English

Location:
Work occurs throughout Northern, Central and Southern California, and must be comfortable with travel and willing to work and travel to fieldwork locations from home. Travelling will be required about 50-90% of the time.

Per California pay transparency laws, this role pays between $30.00 to $35.00 per hour.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
