Health Safety Environment Coordinator

Position Overview:


EDECS is seeking a dedicated HSE Coordinator to support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) initiatives across complex construction and infrastructure projects. In this key role, you will collaborate with the HSE Compliance Manager to ensure HSE compliance during tendering, execution, and close-out stages. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional passionate about improving safety culture, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement within a dynamic project environment.


Responsibilities:


HSE Documentation & Planning:

  • Assist the HSE Compliance Manager during the tendering stage by preparing draft project-specific documentation, including:
  • HSE Plans
  • Emergency Response Plans
  • Traffic Management Plans
  • Risk Assessments

Internal Audits & Compliance Monitoring:

  • Conduct internal H&S audits in alignment with the approved audit schedule and HSE-PR-36 requirements.
  • Ensure audit reports are prepared with a maximum of five (5) errors per report (as noted by the Auditee or HSE Director).
  • Support the preparation of a post-audit dashboard summary within five (5) working days following the completion of S1/S2 audits.

Training & Awareness:

  • Develop and deliver at least one safety training presentation every six (6) months , suitable for EDECS’ online training platform.
  • Contribute to raising HSE awareness across the organization through relevant content creation.

HSEMS Review & Improvement:

  • Conduct semiannual reviews of at least one (1) HSE procedure and related forms from a Health & Safety perspective.
  • Prepare and submit a summary report of findings and continuous improvement recommendations to the HSE Compliance Manager.

Legal Compliance Analysis:

  • Perform a quarterly review of project H&S legal compliance, focusing on:
  • Safety Committee performance
  • Legal competency ratios in safety-critical trades
  • Deliver a summary presentation with findings and recommendations within five (5) working days of each review cycle.


Qualifications & Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in an HSE role, preferably within construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with international safety standards and local regulatory frameworks.
  • Internal auditing experience is preferred.


Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in preparing risk assessments, safety plans, and audit reports.
  • Familiarity with HSE management systems and online training platforms.
