Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified and motivated Environmental Engineer to lead and prepare Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Initial Environmental Examination (IEE), and other environmental compliance reports in accordance with Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) and provincial EPA requirements. The candidate will play a key role in environmental data collection, analysis, report writing, and coordination with regulatory bodies and clients for project approvals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental baseline surveys (air, water, soil, noise, biodiversity, socio-economic, etc.).
- Prepare comprehensive EIA and IEE reports, including scoping, impact identification, and mitigation plans.
- Develop Environmental Management Plans (EMP) and monitoring frameworks for construction and operational phases.
- Review engineering and design documents to identify potential environmental risks and suggest sustainable alternatives.
- Liaise with provincial and federal environmental authorities (EPA Punjab, Sindh, etc.) for screening, review, and approval of environmental studies.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (civil engineers, planners, and GIS specialists) to integrate environmental considerations in project designs.
- Ensure compliance with Pakistan Environmental Protection Act 1997, PEPA Regulations, and World Bank/ADB environmental safeguard policies (where applicable).
- Conduct site inspections and prepare environmental monitoring reports.
- Participate in public consultations and stakeholder engagement meetings as required by the EIA process.
- Maintain updated knowledge of environmental laws, standards, and best practices in Pakistan and globally.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in preparing EIA/IEE reports for infrastructure, industrial, or development projects.
- Strong understanding of EPA submission processes and environmental clearance procedures.
- Proficiency in environmental sampling, GIS data interpretation, and environmental modeling tools (preferred).
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with PPRA procurement rules, environmental safeguard frameworks of donor agencies (ADB, WB).
- Experience in ESIA for infrastructure, water, or energy projects.
