Position Summary – Laboratory Technician I

The Laboratory Technician I is an entry-level position responsible for performing laboratory and field duties in support of environmental testing. This role includes routine weekend and occasional holiday hours.

Schedule:

• Sunday – Thursday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Occasional holidays (as required)
• Mandatory rotations when assigned
• Overtime as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Receive samples from clients and log into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
• Perform basic microbiological analyses (e.g., coliform bacteria testing)
• Conduct basic inorganic chemistry analyses (e.g., pH, turbidity)
• Notify clients of test results
• Maintain accurate documentation of analyses
• Monitor incubator and refrigerator temperatures
• Disinfect laboratory surfaces, autoclave biological waste, and maintain general housekeeping
• Conduct onsite wastewater and drinking water sampling
• Prepare and stock bottles, assemble bottle orders for clients
• Pick up and deliver samples using company vehicles
• Perform other duties in the laboratory or field as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma and two years of laboratory or related experience required
• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or other science-related field preferred
• Ability to work with laboratory chemicals, including acids and solvents
• Familiarity with computer systems for sample receiving
• Valid driver’s license for company vehicle use
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Additional Information

• Status: Non-Exempt
• Compensation: $20/hr
• Reports to: Department Manager
